Students who attend public schools and receive special education / related services must have an Individualized Education Program (IEP). The IEP must be designed for that particular student and must truly be an individualized document. It is imperative that the IEP be individualized so that teachers, parents, and related personnel can work together to improve the educational results for the student with disabilities.
The child's unique needs are to be determined by parents, teachers, and other staff. This panel uses their experience to produce the right educational program that will help the student be involved in, and progress in, the general curriculum. With an effective IEP, the student with the disability will obtain the services he/she requires to integrate properly and reach the goals set out. The program requires the assitance of everyone involved in order to insure it's success.
